Mr. Soeb is a Research Associate in the River, Delta, and Coastal Morphology Division at the Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS). As an early-career water professional, he brings more than three years of multidisciplinary experience in hydro-meteorological assessment, river morphology, water resources management, river training works design, GIS applications in river management, hydrodynamic modelling, and navigation management. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET), Bangladesh.
Throughout his career, Mr. Soeb has contributed to several national-level studies. Notably, he was involved in updating the river information database for the publication "Rivers of Bangladesh", through which he gained in-depth knowledge of the hydro-meteorological, and morphological characteristics of the rivers across the country. He has also supported the preparation of concept notes for future initiatives under the Support to Implementation of Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100.
His project experience spans across feasibility studies, riverbank protection design, and water modelling assessments. He has designed four riverbank protection structures along the Bishkhali River in Barguna for a water resources management study in coastal Bangladesh and developed a hydrodynamic model for rivers within the south-east hydrological region to evaluate the feasibility of dredging interventions.
Mr. Soeb is proficient in a range of geo-spatial, hydrodynamic modelling, and CAD tools, including ArcGIS, Google Earth Pro, SOBEK, Delft3D, HEC-RAS, and AutoCAD. He has also published a conference paper on storm-surge modelling of Sidr-like cyclones under climate-change scenarios in the AIP Conference Proceedings.
