Mr. Malik Fida A Khan has over 30 years of extensive experiences spanning across the diversified fields of Water Resources Planning and Management, Climate Change, Information Technology, and development projects in Bangladesh. He has skills for development of integrated planning and implementation through multi organizational involvement and participation of stakeholder for optimum utilization of resources. Besides, serving CEGIS as the Executive Director, Mr. Khan is also supervising the activities of Climate Change and Disaster Management Division. He has experience in engineering aspects related to water management in the schemes for working out the impact of the rehabilitation works on water resources. He has experience of leading many studies as Team Leader and Deputy Team Leader.
He has experience in formulating the mechanism for assessing the climate change vulnerability, selecting the critically impacted elements, and quantification of damage due to mega climate disasters, multi-sectoral analysis for impact of climate change, setting up monitoring mechanism of evidence of climate change and climate variability. He has the experience to assess the need for awareness rising, capacity building, and education program on climate change issues and make inventory for collection of emission related activity data, institutional advancements for mainstreaming/servicing adaptation, and good practices on adaptation.
Having a sound knowledge of water resources and the hydrological set-up of the country, Mr. Khan is adroit planning many projects some of which are: formulation of various water resources planning for the country. He has vast experiences working as resource planner and has formulated strategies for delta, haors, coastal areas and Chittagong hill tract areas of Bangladesh. He was involved in are: Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100 (Draft), National Water Resources Management Plan (NWMP), Haor Master Plan, Southern Agricultural Master Plan, Water Management Improvement Project (WMIP), District Development Plan for the Districts of Bhola and Cox’s Bazar, Detailed Design of Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project etc.
Being a modeling expert and a senior Mathematical Modeler, he led numerous modeling studies of CEGIS for conducting hydrological and hydro-dynamic modeling studies undertaken for improvement of flooding and drainage situation of urban and semi-urban areas, mathematical Modeling for urban housing projects which were noteworthy. Besides, he has vast expertise in spatial database management using ArcView, and Oracle/SQL server & access databases.
He has over 12 years of experiences in transboundary water management in Bangladesh. He was involved and led the study team for development of sustainable water sharing options of important transboundary river between Bangladesh and India based United Nations non navigational uses of the International Water Course, 1997. He worked in a number of projects on transboundary water management issues.
