GIS based Digital Map of Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Limited (KGDCL) Gas Pipelines and Gas Installations

The main objective of the activity is to develop a GIS based MIS containing different tier of gas pipelines with related installations and customer database of its franchise area. The MIS will also contain relevant extracted features from satellite images, existing hardcopy/digital information and field survey data. The specific objectives are:

1. To prepare a GIS dataset (map linked with attributes) of pipeline network of all tiers of the KGDCL franchise area.
2. To develop a GIS-based gas related installations and customer database for Zone-3 only.
3. To develop an integrated GIS based MIS on pipeline network, gas related installations and customer database for Zone-3.

Topographic Survey of the Shadhin Bangla, Reliance and Padma Mining Exploration Areas

2011 - 2011

The Geological Survey of Pakistan and then the Geological Survey of Bangladesh discovered considerable quantity of peat deposits in various localities of Bangladesh. Amongst these discoveries, the deposits of Baghia-Chanda Beel in Madaripur is to be named. The Government of Bangladesh has awarded license to Padma Mining and Energy Ltd, Reliance Minerals and Power Ltd, and Shadhin Bangla Mines and Electricity Ltd. to explore peat coal in Madaripur and Gopalganj districts. In this connection the explorer companies has taken an initiative to develop a digital topographic model which will duly consider the key topographic features specially the homesteads, roads, footpaths that are artificially raised above the surrounding topography and the ditches, canals and ponds that are artificially excavated into the surrounded topography. The activities were to understand the present topographic condition of the area by using topographic models that would be prepared through a detail topographic survey. Based on the Total Station survey. The specific objectives of this work were:

1. to develop a GIS/CAD based background model of the low-lying natural landscape
2. to  develop a GIS/CAD based model of the artificially raised areas
3. to develop a GIS/CAD model of ponds and other water courses.
