Mr. A T M Shamsul Alam [B. Sc. (Honors) Geography (1989); M. Sc. Geography (1991), Jahangirnagar University; M.S.S. Social Welfare (2011), University of Dhaka] has started his career at Irrigation Support Project for Asia and the Near East (ISPAN), a USAID funded organization under Camp Dresser & McKee, Inc., the USA in May 1991 as an Institutional Analyst for the Flood Response Study (FAP 14) of Bangladesh Flood Action Plan (FAP), Ministry of Water Resources (MoWR), GoB, where he continued up to December 1993. During this period, he served also the Flood Proofing Study (FAP 23) as Research Assistant and the Environmental Study (FAP 16) as Junior Social Scientist. From January 1994 to December 1995 he served MROCHET (a Chittagong Hill Tract-based national NGO working for Mro & Khumi Ethnic Communities) voluntarily (part-time) as the Founder Program Coordinator. He worked in the Environment and GIS Support Project for Water Sector Planning (EGIS) under MoWR, the successor of ISPAN as Junior Consultant from January 1996 to February 1998 and in EGISII as Junior Socio-Economist/Associate Socio-Economist from March 1998 to June, 2002. Since the initiation of CEGIS, he has worked in its Social and Economic Division as an Associate Sociologist/Associate Socio-Economist/Associate Specialist (July, 2002-December, 2006). Mr. Alam worked in this Division as a Senior Specialist from January 2007 to December 2012 and as a Principal Specialist from January 2013 to date. In addition, he served the Quality Management and Publication Division of CEGIS as the Director (In-Charge) during September 2015 to February 2018. Since March 2018, Mr Alam has been leading the Socio-Economic & Institutional Division of CEGIS as Director (In Charge).
