Arifur Rahman is working as a Research Consultant in the Climate Change and Disaster Management Division of Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS). He joined the CEGIS on August 17, 2022. He has experience in hydrodynamic and hydrologic modelling with HEC-HMS, SOBEK, HEC-RAS, and ArcSWAT, climate data analysis, environmental and social impact assessment, conducting field surveys for various projects related to climate change and water resources management.
He worked in various projects e.g., ‘CRVA for the Fisheries and Aquaculture Sector’ funded by FAO, ‘Investing in Climate Change Adaptation through Agroecological Landscape Restoration’ funded by the ADB, ‘Development of Landslide Risk Profile, Maps, Strategy Framework and Action Plans for Hill side Road Network of Rangamati, Khagrachari, Bandarban Hill District’ of RHD, ‘Chattogram City Water-logging Project’ of CDA (Chattogram Development Authority), and etc. He was involved in drainage survey, outlet survey, project management and logistics, data analysis, hydraulic design of outlets, validation of hydraulic models of khals in Chattogram city for the water-logging project of CDA.
Currently he is involved in the projects 'RHD006: Hydro-morphological study for five bridges under the Roads and Highhway Department, Bangladesh', 'DOE033: Preparing the Chapter on Information Related to Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation under Enabling Activities for the Preparation of a combined BTR1 and NC4 to the UNFCCC' and 'DOE034: Preparing chapter on information on financial, technology development & transfer & capacity building support needed & received, including gender & climate change under Enabling Activities for Preparation of a combined BTR1 and NC4 to UNFCCC'.
