Mr. A.T.M. Kamal Hossain is a seasoned river and water resources professional with more than three decades of progressive experience in river morphology, inland waterways planning, dredging management, and spatial technologies. Over the years, he has earned recognition for blending strong analytical capability with practical, field-based solutions to support sustainable river and navigation management across Bangladesh.
His professional journey reflects deep engagement in the planning, design, monitoring, and maintenance of navigation routes and river systems. He has made notable contributions to advancing automated methods for estimating capital and maintenance dredging quantities and has effectively applied GIS, Remote Sensing, and advanced surveying techniques—including topographic, hydrographic, bathymetric, and physical feature surveys—to promote evidence-based waterway management.
With more than 18 years of leadership and project management experience, Mr. Hossain has successfully led multidisciplinary teams under BIWTA, WARPO, DWASA, and CEGIS. Serving in roles such as Team Leader, Deputy Team Leader, and Professional Expert, he has overseen diverse national and international assignments covering the full project cycle—from conceptualization and feasibility analysis to technical documentation and implementation support.
His core areas of expertise include river morphology and sediment dynamics, capital and maintenance dredging management, Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (EIA/SIA), sustainable navigation master planning, hydrographic and topographic data processing, and the development of GIS/MIS-based monitoring systems. He has also contributed to riverbank erosion prediction modeling, strengthening data-driven river and waterway management practices in Bangladesh.
