CEGIS to conduct EIA/SIA for AIUB

A contract has been signed recently between CEGIS and the American International University- Bangladesh (AIUB) for conducting a needs assessment as well as Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Social Impact Assessment (SIA) studies for their proposed permanent campus in Kuratoli mouza, Kuril, thana- Joar Sahara, Dhaka North (adjacent to Basundhara residential area). Engr. Md. Waji Ullah, Executive Director, CEGIS and Brig. Gen. Md. Mahmudur Rahman Khandker (Retd), Chief Engineer, Permanent Campus Project, AIUB signed the contract on behalf of the respective organisations.
The proposed total land area of the campus is around 22 bigha (7.26 acre). The complex consists of four separate main buildings i.e. Academic Building, Library Complex, Administrative Complex and Laboratory Complex which are linked by internal roads and separated from the boundary and adjacent areas by tree belts creating a green buffer zone between the complex and the surroundings. The tallest building (Academic Building) is 11storey above ground and there are 2 basement parking floors underneath. Beside this, two Auditoriums, Cafeteria, Gymnasium, and Swimming Pool facilities will be constructed within the campus.
