Projection of Sea Level Rise and its Sectoral Impact
Bangladesh, especially the coastal zone is most vulnerable to climate change because of its geographic location, flat topography, high
population density, high levels of poverty, and reliance of many livelihoods on climate sensitive sectors, particularly agriculture, fisheries and water resources. Sea Level is rising in coastal belt at 6 mm to 23 mm per year posing serious threats to life and livelihoods of this region.
CEGIS has conducted a study for Department of Environment (DoE) to determine the future projection of sea level rise along coastal belt of
Bangladesh, assess the vulnerability and assess impact on agriculture, water and infrastructure sectors. The outcome of this study will help
global as well as national platform to understand the localized sea level rise condition and its sectoral impact in Bangladesh.
